With our ever growing demand these days to stay younger for as long as we can the sheer volume of products to serve this insatiable demand is bewildering. No one doubts that it’s a very big business as we spend often large sums, to keep and look younger. It has also meant that more and more people are resorting to having cosmetic surgery often repeatedly for different parts of their body. As we try to keep father time at bay one of those bodily areas in particular is what many of us see first when looking at a person, namely their face. Many of us are trying different anti aging skin care products with varied outcomes. Invariably the marketing hype just doesn’t live up to its promise and we become disappointed with the lack of results But, all is not lost and if you look hard enough there are some great products out there. So, here’s a few tips on what to look out for and what to avoid in order to find genuine, natural, good products. Far too many anti aging skin care products use fragrances in their list of ingredients. Whilst you may smell nice these chemicals could be seeping into your skin, which itself is porous and nobody wants these toxins entering into your bloodstream. Who knows what kind of long term health hazard that’s causing. It’s important to remember that with these types of creams, when we apply them to our skin we are massaging them onto our skin and after all, if you want to smell nice just use a few squirts of an alternative, body spray. If you ever pick up an anti aging skin care product and examine its list of ingredients and you see Collagen, then this should ring some alarm bells. Why, well put very simply this substance cannot be absorbed by our body when applied externally. It’s a sad fact but our skin becomes wrinkly, sags and ages as a result of the collagen in our skin gradually breaking down. The better products will try to encourage our own body to produce this substance from within. This might be an opportune moment to mention something about the marketing of such products to us consumers. I’m sure many of us have picked up a glossy magazine with some well known and pretty looking celebrity endorsing some new anti aging skin care product. Such blatant promotion via magazines and even radio and TV, plays upon our emotions and cleverly but gently pushes us into trying them with the help of luxury packaging. Few of us stop to think about what the producers of these products must be forking out for such endorsements. Believe me it’s not peanuts. So when faced with a choice, would you pick a smaller companies product that has a proven track record or pay through the nose for some over priced, over hyped, over promoted jar of something else? I have to say, I enjoy discovering skin care companies, where the philosophy is that the money goes into developing the product and not the celebrity personality trying to sell it. Finding such little gems is well worth it in the long run and let’s face it, your skin will thank you.
